MINUTES OF PYA MEETING
Held on Thursday, September 2, 2004

President Jake Reinhardt called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Sue Ryckman read the Minutes from the previous meeting. Motion to accept Minutes by Dave Horning seconded by Nicole Begin. Treasurer Dave Horning read the treasurer's report.  Joe Della Penta made a motion to accept the treasurer's report, seconded by Secretary Sue Ryckman.

FOOTBALL:
Coordinator Troy Harlach present.  First games were held in Akron on 8/28/04.  Mini and JV lost their games, Varsity won.  Can Drive fundraiser underway, running through September 18.  Drop off cans and bottles to PYA Building.  A Scratch-Off fundraiser will begin on Wednesday, September 8.   Football pictures were taken on 8/25 by Bishop Photography.   Discussion is underway regarding having 9/11 game a PYA Homecoming.  If there is guaranteed parent involvement, it should be a go.

CHEERLEADING:
Nicole Begin and Joe Della Penta present.  Practices are under way.   Ms. Losson was present at meeting, and all is straightened out regarding jogging suit. Candle fundraiser is done and was a huge success. Candy bar sales will begin soon.  If the girls want to purchase the uniform pants, they must sell their original box of candy bars, plus an additional box of candy bars or pay $20.  Jackets have been ordered, and a check issued to them.  Nicole will pick up jackets.  A competition fee of $75.00 was paid to NOFA.  Cheerleading pictures will be held on 9/13 by Bishop Photography. Joe Della Penta to contact Joe Englebert regarding old uniforms that the high school may be getting rid of.

SOCCER:
Coordinator Steve Chapman not present at meeting due to working food booth for High School soccer. Reports that soccer is done for the season and no new business.

BASEBALL:
Coordinator still needed.  Monies to be returned for the Duroshed fundraiser. Three people present that may be interested in taking over as coordinator.  No definite decision made yet as to who.  Lee Gray and the other interested parties will be running the food booth on 9/4 for the high school football game.  Treasurer Dave Horning read a letter he received from a parent. Discussed the issues in letter, and corrected some misinformation. Discussions were had as to how much it costs per child to play, price of equipment.


SOFTBALL:
No Coordinator present at meeting. No new news.


BASKETBALL:
No coordinator present at meeting. No new news.

 
WRESTLING:
Coordinator Dave Horning present.  No new news.


OLD BUSINESS:
Brickhouse Corners planning is underway. PYA will be serving pig roast, hot dogs, hamburgers, beverages.  President Jake Reinhardt to check with Brickhouse committee on some Baseball parents possibly selling pies at the Brickhouse Corners event. Secretary Sue Ryckman in discussions with Deb Conti, who is in charge of entertainment for Brickhouse, about carrying their flag ceremony over to the PYA football games.

NEW BUSINESS:
Joe Englebert, Athletic Director for High School, came to our meeting. Discussed with him updates on using the school facilities, help in keeping the school grounds clean, and open to keep communication going. Thank you, Joe, for stopping in at our meeting.



NEW MEMBERS:
Jennifer Nuwer.

SPECIAL NOTES:
High School would like the PYA building to be open for all High School sports games. Please check the website calendar for dates of games,  to sign up to help out in the food booth. Sign-ups continue for help with Brickhouse.


Vice President Diane Horning made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 pm., seconded by
Secretary Sue Ryckman.
The Next meeting will take place Thurs., October 7 at 7:00 pm
