MINUTES OF PYA MEETING Held on Thursday, August 3, 2006

President Kellie Kelsey called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. President read the Minutes from the previous meeting. Motion to accept Minutes by Shannon Johnson, seconded by Christie Ludwig. Treasurer Christie Ludwig read the treasurer's report. Kellie Kelsey made a motion to accept the treasurer's report, seconded by Shannon Johnson. $1026.37 in General Fund.
FOOTBALL: Coord. Scott Birkby present at meeting. Season underway. 17-18 kids on Seniors, 20-22 on Juniors, 20-22 on Minis. Discussion was had regarding having practices during very hot, humid days. Expressed that the coaches and coordinators are watching the kids very closely, giving lots of water breaks. It is ultimately the decision by each parent whether they want their child participating. If a parent decides their child will not participate in practice due to the weather conditions, there will never be a negative response to the child. $2580.41 in account.
CHEERLEADING: All committee members present. Season underway. Have missed a lot of practices due to weather. 15 kids on minis, 23 kids on Juniors, 25 kids on Seniors. Senior cheerleaders have been invited to cheer at the finish line for the Diabetes Walk at Six Flags. $3617.41 in account.
TRAVEL SOCCER: No coordinator present. Season done. Tournament went well. $258.46 in account.
NON-TRAVEL SOCCER Lindsey Dibble present. Season is done. Went well. $2945.85 in account.
BASKETBALL: Roy Neeland present. Nothing new. Practices usually begin in November. Games begin in January. $839.39 in account.
SOFTBALL: Coordinator Kellie Kelsey present at meeting. Season is done. Kellie has trophies. $752.87 in account.
BASEBALL: Coordinators Brian Swank & Christie Ludwig present at meeting. Banquet scheduled for Aug. 19 at Darien State Park. Baseball is in the red due to having to pay for umpires for 9-12 year old teams. Congratulations to 11/12 year olds who made the first round of the playoffs, and 9/10 year olds who made the second round of the playoffs. $-389.17 in account.
WRESTLING: Coordinator not present. Practices usually begin the end of November. $656.32 in account.
FOOD BOOTH: Lottery drawing held regarding Varsity, JV, & Modified High School football games. The booth is also available for individual sports to run during all other HS sporting events. Contact Becky Dibble if your sport would like to raise funds working one of the high school events.

COMMITTEES: Brickhouse Corners: Sat., Sept. 9th, at corners of Rt. 5 & 77. PYA will be selling hotdogs, hamburgers, pop, and water. Will be having a pig roast if we are able to get a roaster available to us. Brian Swank will be looking into the pig and roaster. Possibility of PYA football games being moved to 3:00/5:00/7:00pm. This is a large event, running from 8am to 4pm in the afternoon. Really need the help of all members to make this a success. Please take the time to sign up and help.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS: PYA received a letter/card from Melissa Fagan for her receiving one of the scholarships. Membership invited to read it.
Peter Sformo, town board member, discussed the DRAFT first phase of the Town Park. There will be 3 soccer fields/football fields, 4 small baseball fields, 1 large baseball field, pavilions, playground, two parking lots. It is a 2-3 year project of the first 50 acres. Peter expressed this is a draft plan, not finalized. There is an additional 50 acres available for additional phases/drafts.
Expressed to everyone to spread the word that the ACCESS ROAD to the football field is for HANDICAPPED and EMERGENCY VEHICLE access ONLY. There have been continued problems with parking in that area. PYA runs the risk of losing the privilege to use school facilities, as well as such vehicles being ticketed by police.
MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL & VOTING: Proposal #1 - PYA making donation to Louie Reeb foundation in the amount of $150.00 Unanimous YES
Proposal #2 - PYA to purchase a 10x10 pop-up canopy for use by all sports and a folding table, Not to exceed $200.00. Unanimous YES
NEW MEMBERS: 2006 Membership is closed.
Kellie Kelsey made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by ???. The Next meeting will take place Thurs., September 7th, 2006, at 7:00 pm. In cafeteria.
